Sports Massage can help injuries heal quickly.  Most sports injuries are sprains, may show signs of swelling, bruising or redness, pain when the specific muscle or joint is used, weakness of the muscle or inability to use the muscle at all.

Depending on what the injury is and how severe, will determine if massage therapy is warrented or medical attention is needed.

A standard for strained muscle is the well known RICE formula:

Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation.  

A ice pack for 20 minutes every hour for the first 72 hours, Gentle compression with a ace bandage and Elevate the injured area to decrease swelling.
